Entrepreneur Program  / Remembering Christina Hamilton

Christina Hamilton, a Lowell-based entrepreneur who took part in our pitch contests and was a finalist in our current Winter Accelerator Program, tragically passed away on February 19, 2014.

In 2013, Christina founded Delightful Surprise Sweets, a business that sold high-quality sweets including unique and multi-flavored gourmet fudge. She was a staple this summer and fall at the Lowell Farmer’s Market in front of City Hall.  As an individual with physical disabilities, her true passion was to be an advocate and champion for those with similar challenges. Her long-term goal for the business was to hire individuals with disabilities.

Christina meant so much to the Sandbox community and will be deeply missed. She had a great impact on all those she touched including her fellow entrepreneurs, mentors, and the greater Lowell community. To honor her memory, her colleagues in the Winter Accelerator Class have decided to donate $5,000 from their awards prize pool to Christina’s family.

The Sandbox would like to ask you to help support her family in this time of need. Her family has set up the Hamilton Fund at Washington Savings BankAny donation to the family will go to support her husband and his two children and four grandchildren, all of whom are quite young.  The family is very grateful for any donations that will help them get through this current crisis and as well set up the grandchildren for their futures.
