Bio

Since 2011 Andrew Stickney has served as the Vice President of the Vermont Center for Emerging Technologies (VCET), an independent nonprofit technology business incubation program offering business mentoring, venture capital, office facilities, and substantive networking to the region’s entrepreneurs and emerging next generation employers. To date, 40 firms have been formally incubated and/or invested in by VCET, and together employ over 200 people. These emerging firms have attracted over $50 million in capital. Nearly 200 additional entrepreneur teams and start-ups are now assisted annually. In addition to forming a world-class mentor network (i.e. our Talent Cloud), VCET has hosted 37 college interns and graduate MBA and Computer Science fellows. Andrew is an integral part of the VCET team that manages the Vermont Seed Capital Fund, LP. The Fund is a $5M permanently revolving seed capital venture fund targeting high opportunity businesses and high potential individuals. During this time Andrew worked to design and create UVM Start, a student crowdfunding program - connecting UVM entrepreneurs with Alumni for concept capital and mentoring, as well as Tech @ Vermont, a series of networking events to connect entrepreneurs throughout Vermont to various local and statewide resources. Andrew has worked with Middlebury student entrepreneurs throughout his time at VCET, participating on numerous panels (both competitive and informational) on campus, and teaches the Midd-Entrepreneurs class for student led startups. Prior to serving as the Vice President at VCET, Andrew worked with Altria Inc. in marketing and distribution. In 2007 Andrew earned a Bachelor of Science from the University of Vermont and 4 years later completed an MBA from the University of Vermont. Current and former Board and Adviser roles include: Vtrim, Electrocell Technologies, Aprexis Health Solutions, True Body Products, LaunchVT, Vermont Investors Forum, Vermont Invention2Venture, and the Epscor Innovation Fund. In his free time, Andrew enjoys motorcycling, biking, kitesurfing, traveling, and running with his dog, “Slinky”
